Che cosa vuol dire essere Paul McCartney nel 2012?
Che scrivi un pezzo meraviglioso (come quello del video qui sotto) e poi ti viene voglia di fare un album ("Kisses on the Bottom") che comprenda brani dello stesso mood, grandi classici, brani - come dice lo stesso Paul - "sui quali io e John (Lennon, ndr) ci siamo basati per scrivere i nostri".
Allora chiami i migliori musicisti disponibili sulla faccia della terra, un paio di amici (Eric Clapton e Steve Wonder) e registri un album superbo, tutto d'un fiato.
"E' stato qualcosa di molto naturale e spontaneo, qualcosa che mi ha fatto tornare in mente i tempi d'oro dei Beatles. Io proponevo la canzone, gli altri iniziavano a suonarla - senza necessariamente conoscerla in anticipo - e poi continuavamo a riprovarla, finché non ci sembrava pronta da registrare. E' così che abbiamo fatto, suonando di fatto live in studio. Era importante, per me, tenere fuori le opzioni più ovvie, anche se so che molti classici non sono conosciuti dal grande pubblico: mi auguro che le mie scelte, per gli ascoltatori, siano delle piacevoli sorprese".
